In 2012, I became a first-time home owner, purchasing a tiny one-bedroom apartment on the very top floor of a beautiful pre-war townhome. Situated on the most charming tree-lined street, the exterior was picturesque, though the interior left much to be desired, filled with warped wood floors, moldy walls, and a kitchen and bathroom that screamed, “renovate me!”
Though a novice by experiential standards, I graduated with a degree in Architectural History which provided some baseline, and certainly a strong aesthetic direction. Itching for material swatches and hard-surface samples, I found myself driven by a passion to create. This 650-square-foot apartment was my canvas and I instinctually knew what needed to be done. My weekly Saturday morning tradition of watching “This Old House” as a child would soon be quite handy (Thank you, Bob Vila)…
…And so, with every spare penny I had, and a sledgehammer in hand, I threw caution to the wind and began to strip the tiny apartment from its dated wares and ushered in new life. The process was not seamless, but it was exhilarating. Something inside of me felt more alive than ever. I was in my element.
From that moment on, I consciously pivoted my career and life toward the discovery of design in all forms. Committed to the procurement of beautiful things, coupled with an insatiable appetite for renovating spaces, I decided to lay the foundation for my own interior design firm…
…Now, nearly eight years later, with countless design schemes under our belt, we tackle projects globally, both big and small; everything from complete gut renovations to minor tweaking.
With an eye toward the future and a foot in the past, my team and I continue to evolve our aesthetic persuasions. We look to fashion for fear-defying boundaries, history for timeless motifs and nature for wild, uninhibited nods to beauty. It is our goal to constantly think ahead, evolve, and create thoughtful, artfully designed spaces.
